Pena Verde is from Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. He started playing Capoeira when he was 15 years old with Mestre Sabia, the coordinator of The Association of Ginga Mundo Capoeira.  
Pena has been teaching Capoeira for 10 years. Currently, he teaches in New York City at Community Roots Charter School, The Co-op School, and Brooklyn East Collegiate Middle School. He has also taught at Essex Street Academy High School, Bronx International High School, P.S. 372-the Children’s School, Brooklyn Friends School, Music Time Kids, and the Tribeca Community School.

What is Ginga Mundo

The Association of Capoeira Ginga Mundo emerged in 2004 as a segmentation of Mandinga NGO (Integrated Education Association, Arts and Sports), which conducts educational, cultural and sports programs since 1998. The birth of the Ginga Mundo occurred shortly after the first event international namesake, held in Bahia, led by the coordinator of the Mandinga Project, Master Sabia.

The mission of the Ginga Mundo is to contribute in the formation of human and ethical values ased on respect, socialization and freedom from the transmission of capoeira, recreational and disciplinary way, in schools and social projects.

The group also works with children and adults, always bearing in mind the development of actions for the defense, raising and maintaining quality of life of human beings, through the promotion of sports projects and educational activities in sports, with an emphasis on capoeira.

Ginga Mundo carries out its activities through a network of capoeiristas that make up the association, present currently in Europe, Australia, USA and Canada, as well as Brazil.
